Dr. Jason Chan is an esteemed sports medicine professional and the longest-serving Chief Medical Officer (CMO) in the history of the Melbourne Storm, where he oversaw player medical welfare from 2014 through 2024. A 1994 graduate of the University of Melbourne, Dr. Chan has over 30 years of experience in orthopaedics and musculoskeletal injury, having assisted in over 8,000 joint replacements and served as the founder of the Surgical Assistants Group of Victoria. His career in elite sport includes roles with the Queensland State of Origin team, the Melbourne Rebels, and international soccer tournaments. In August 2024, he was inducted as a Life Member of the Melbourne Storm in recognition of his decade of service, including his leadership in navigating the club through the COVID-19 pandemic. Following his tenure as CMO, he transited to a medical consultant role for the club and became the Medical Director at PK27, a high-performance medicine clinic.
