Socrates was an Athenian philosopher, scholar, and teacher who lived in ancient Greece. He's credited as the founder of Western philosophy and a pioneer of moral philosophy. Socrates' teaching style, known as the Socratic method, involved asking questions to guide students to their own understanding. He was known for questioning everyone and everything, and for examining the lives of others and himself. Socrates believed that "the unexamined life is not worth living".
